Mr. Wynkoop leads worship and directs music at First Baptist Church in Gastonia, directing adult, youth, children's, and handbell choirs. Mr. Wynkoop also directs the Celebration of Freedom concert, an annual celebration of American Hymns and Spirituals.

Under his directorship, the Choral Society has performed Schubert's Mass in G, Vivaldi's Gloria, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Rutter's Gloria, and Faure's Requiem. The membership has embraced his progressive direction and artistic vision, and the successes of the ensemble readily show this. Under Mr. Wynkoop's direction, the Choral Society was chosen to present at the Fall 2011 North Carolina American Choral Directors Association Convention at the University of North Carolina at Greenbsoro.

Mr. Wynkoop also maintains a private voice studio in Gastonia, directs a community women's chorus, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, his two daughters, Grace and Rebekah, and his dog, Dixie.

Christine Starnes; Assistant ARtistic director, accompanist

Christine Starnes has been accompanying choirs more than half her life.  Starting in the 7th grade under the direction of Becky Bumgardner she was granted opportunities to share her talent at the piano all through junior high and into high school, there under Trip McGill.  After high school she worked with Dr Heather Potter as youth and junior choir accompanist for 3 years at First ARP Gastonia.

In the fall of 2011 she became service pianist of Loray Baptist Church in West Gastonia and a year later it's music director.  The fall of 2015 opened another door as she rose to accompanist and Assistant Artistic Director of the Gaston Choral Society under the baton of Dan Wynkoop.

Mrs. Starnes has been the principle accompanist of Stuart Cramer High School since its inception and music director of it's theatre department.  She also regularly plays for Bessemer City HS, North Gaston HS, WC Friday Middle, Belmont Middle, Bessemer City Middle, and Mt Holly Middle School, as well as choral festivals in the surrounding area.

Christine owes the cultivation of her talent and career to her Lord God, her loving parents, Dwayne and Sarah Fink, and Barbara Westmoreland of the Gaston School of the Arts.  She and her loving husband, Jarrod, live in Gastonia.
